Overview

Narrative

The AAS degree in Information Security will prepare students with the technical knowledge and skills needed to protect and defend computer systems and networks. Students will plan, implement, and monitor networking and security systems to help ensure the protection of information technology assets. Additionally, students identify, analyze, and remediate computer security breaches. Extensive hands-on lab time with real and current equipment will prepare you for a successful career as a Systems Auditor, Network Security Analyst, and Security System Engineer.

Career Potential: Information Assurance Specialist, Vulnerability Tester, Cyber Security Analyst, Security Technologist, or similar.

Outcomes

Graduates of the program will:

  • Analyze, measure, and evaluate the performance and information security needs of an organization. 
  • Configure, monitor and maintain network security systems. 
  • Be able to use information security and cyber/computer software/tools. 
  • Describe and assess operational and strategic information security policies. 
  • Describe information security risks and legal and ethical issues facing todays organizations. 
  • Understand and apply critical concepts of network security.
